Prince Avalanche

Magnolia Pictures and Emile Hirsch. Do I need to say more? Alright, Paul Rudd. More?

This film looks cosy and funny and I’m not surprised it got the attention of those film festivals mentioned in the trailer.

IMDB: “Two highway road workers spend the summer of 1988 away from their city lives. The isolated landscape becomes a place of misadventure as the men find themselves at odds with each other and the women they left behind.”

Directed by David Gordon Green, Prince Avalanche is based on an Icelandic play titled Either Way. Looking at the trailer it seems like there’s not much action happening in the film but instead it’s about the relationship between these two men. It sounds like a challenge to make it interesting but the trailer convinces me!

Don Jon

Don’t we all love Joseph Gordon-Levitt for his charisma and usually good film choices? Yes we do. He’s been around for so long (while writing that I inevitably picture him as a small, skinny kid in 3rd Rock from the Sun). Well, it seems he’s all grown up now and ready to present his directorial debut Don Jon, which he also, by the way, wrote. I don’t yet know what to think of it but at the mention of his name my expectations are high and I hope the film, also starring Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore, will live up to them!

As IMDB puts it: “A New Jersey guy dedicated to his family, friends, and church, develops unrealistic expectations from watching porn and works to find happiness and intimacy with his potential true love.”

I don’t know how realistic it is to think that most girls would go nuts if they caught their guy watching porn, like Barbara (Scarlett Johansson) does when sees Don Jon (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) viewing that extremely bodily genre. But again, this film seems like something to look forward to. But beware, it premieres after summer, so gather patience!
